What is Home Runs for Heroes?
The Northwest Indiana Military Resource Network is a collaboration of organizations centered in Lake County and
surrounding communities. Their mission is to build awareness of the issues affecting veterans, military personnel and
their families. Since 9-11-01, Indiana has supplied military personnel, many from our National Guard and Reserve forces,
in the efforts of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The National Guard and Reserves serve on a
part-time basis in the military. However, when called to duty, these brave men and women deploy in efforts around the
world for up to eighteen months at a time. During this time, their families remain in our communities.
We are planning an event called Home Runs for Heroes at U. S. Steel Yard in Gary on August 21, 2010. This event will have
the capacity to reach out to our veterans, military families and current service members to embrace their experiences
and create opportunities to serve them, just as they have bravely served us.
Please help support our mission and donate to this event. Your donations will help military veterans and families attend
Home Runs for Heroes for free.
